Commemorating April the 2nd – Autism Awareness Day (2016) – the Brazilian office of Specialisterne, located in São Paulo, was officially inaugurated during a special event. This is the first office in Latin America. The project is backed and supported by Specialisterne Spain. It aims to be the starting point of an expansion across Brazil, a country with more than 200 million inhabitants, a recognized ASD community, a meaningful IT sector and great prospects in the future.
During the inauguration event we were honoured by the presence of Dr. Daniela Bordini (TEAMM-Unifesp) as a lecturer. Dr. Bordini is a psychiatrist specialized in ASD, and one of the main professionals in her field in Brazil. She explained the current panorama on ASD research in the country, and the local history of autism. The Specialisterne team then gave an overview of our model to the 120 attendants and our global plans.
Currently one group has concluded the formation process, two are in progress, and another will soon start in São Paulo. Some students have become our consultants, and we expect many more to be participate during the next few months, in several IT, financial and other companies, performing tasks such as software analysis, testing, project management, big data and so on.
Our global partnership with SAP already employs two consultants in Brazil, and recently has overcam the barrier of 100 professionals with ASD worldwide.
The Brazilian office is 1600 ft² (150 m²) with a main training room, practice room and another room for the team. There are also special areas for personal counselling. We are located in Avenida Angélica, near the main business center in Brazil, Avenida Paulista. (Specialisterne Brazil website).
The Brazilian team totals seven people, and is supported by Specialisterne Spain.
